Ok so where I live french manicures are really popular. So many people have acrylic or solar french tips. Personally I like them but I have seen on tv, in magazines %26amp; online that they are out of style. Some people dissagree but it seems to be the general opinion that they are out. What do you think? Just wondering. : )French Manicure nails...in or out??
it doesn't matter if they are in or not were you live if you like tem %26amp; they make yoou feel good then get them.French Manicure nails...in or out??
They are always in style.
Definitely in. The majority of my clientele wears either french manicure polish (on manicures) or french manicure acrylics.
totally in.
Fake nails are in not just french tips.
They are pretty! They look nice on pretty much any girl, and are simple but fashionable at the same time! Totally in.%26lt;33
i like french manicures so...they're kewl
Totally out. Only housewives and porn stars still get French Manicures. The only acceptible time to have one is if you're from the Midwest and you're going to prom.
it will always be in. ';,
I think that French manicures r the 1 essential overall pampering that can never go out of style. Besides, there r so many different styles of them now days. I have seen everything from orange on blue 2 rhinestones and airbrush (rounded or square tips). Truth is that u can add your own spice however u do it. The real question is, weave or chunks? lol. Go ahead, who cares what other people think!
sexy time
In ... but they're becoming a cliche IMO. Porn stars, SAHM's %26amp; anyone in between has them.
Sometimes it takes people awhile to figure out something is ';out';.
Still in, but boring.

Does anyone knowz an easy way of doing french manicure on short nails?
i alwayz make a wriggly line!!!Does anyone knowz an easy way of doing french manicure on short nails?
get the body shop french manicure pen, ive got it %26amp; its like got both the pink and white on different ends %26amp; the whites got a special slant so it dosnt go wrong :) (its like 拢7) xDoes anyone knowz an easy way of doing french manicure on short nails?
This sounds weird, but it works. Get small pieces of sellotape, and put them on your nails, leaving the tips (the bits you want white), uncovered, similar to how you would if you were painting a wall and avoiding a skirting board. Then paint the tips white, and it doesn't matter if you get it on the sellotape. Wait for it to dry, and then peel the sellotape off...voila!
xoxo
paint the line and then once that's dry use a paintbrush or qtip dipped in nail polish remover and make the line straight. Then you put the colored or clear coat over it. It works for me.
french manicure luks good only on long nails...how wuld u divide pink and white on short nails ...grow them a bit

French manicure on short nails?
I have really short nails. They don't cover the skin and on some the white portion is longer than the pink. I want natural looking nails...what options do I have? My job involves a lot of writing so I don't want them too long either.French manicure on short nails?
I have short nails and do sometimes give myself a french manicure. I just paint on the white tips (it doesn't matter where the white part of your nail is, you can paint the white tips wherever it looks best), then put on some nice blush nail polish. I always put on some clear acrylic nail enamel to finish, so the manicure lasts longer. I love the look of a french manicure. Simple, clean, and elegant!
Good luck!French manicure on short nails?
You can ask the manicurist. =)
french manicure doesnt mean it is with long nails so if u like french manicure choose it anyways ask the beautician she knows everything, she is the master:)buy cream wrinkle cream

The words manicure and pedicure do not need quotes around them because they are real words that are not being used in a hypothetical situation.
I like most women routeinly go to the salon for manicures and pedicures, and am 29.

Do you prefer french manicure or painted nails?
if painted, what color?Do you prefer french manicure or painted nails?
I personally don't like french manicure, its too common.Everybody uses that, from the ladies who think its classy to porn stars(btw have you all noticed all wear french manicure?). I like painted nails, and every time i try to stay tuned with seasons colors, even a little drawing made on them from time to time.Always hand painted not airbrushed. When painting them you have so much more options to choose from, styles and colors but hey this is just my taste :)Do you prefer french manicure or painted nails?
french manicure looks really nice and classy..but its chipped easily. So it just depends on how much time and money and effort you want to spend.
I like french manicures but i hear they are harder to maintain. so either way is nice.
French manicure looks great on toes but somewhat pretentious on fingers. Go with a shiny, strength-building clear coat... it'll make you look more approachable %26amp; down to earth.
I like Essie's Ballet Slippers or Waltz. As pretty and natural as a french manicure, but not as likely to chip. American Manicures are cool too. If you get a french manicure, ask them to hand paint it, not airbrush, because it'll last longer! If you dig dark colors, Lincoln Park After Dark by OPI is off the meter...its a dark burgundy-ish color!

Trim nails before manicure?
I am a guy going for my first manicure, and I was wondering: should I trim my nails before going for the manicure? They are getting to the length where I would normally trim them, but don't want to step on the manicurist's territory, if you know what I mean. At the same time, I don't want them to think I'm a total slob!Trim nails before manicure?
Go ahead, give them a trim yourself, they won't mind. Maybe that will give them a few extra minutes for your hand massage.Trim nails before manicure?
No, there is no need to trim them. Cause otherwise it will be impossible for the manicurist to make a form for your nails, even if you are male. It is necessary so your nails would grow the right way.
The same goes for pedicure.
no they always see men go in!

Acrylic Nails or French Manicure?
I need to get my nails done for my Prom and Tennis Banquet. They are each on Friday one week apart. I need to make sure that the nails last at least a week and a half, maybe even two. Which one should I get done-Acrylic Nails or French Manicure?Acrylic Nails or French Manicure?
French manicures dont always stay on long if they are being done on your own nails, if they are on fake nails then its ok but i would suggest Acrylic nails :]Acrylic Nails or French Manicure?
I strongly recommend acrylic. Acrylic lasts a really long time, and you won't have to worry about nails falling off or becoming damaged.buy cream wrinkle cream

I really want to get french tips (acrylic nails w/ a french manicure), I was really convinced until...?
I heard that the can permantley damage your nails. i know plenty of people who have them and they llok sooo cute! Have you ever had them? or heard they are bad for your natural nail???I really want to get french tips (acrylic nails w/ a french manicure), I was really convinced until...?
I have had mine for about 5 years now and i would nerver go without them again. they do weaken your natural nail a bit but a few wks later they are fine. Just make sure about every 6 months you get them taken off and a new set put back on so your wont get an infection. But any good nail salon will tell you when you need to do thatI really want to get french tips (acrylic nails w/ a french manicure), I was really convinced until...?
-if you won't to get rid of them try soaking them off in pure acetone
-or just let them grow out by themselves it will be ugly but this way it won't damage your nails.
Well, yes I have heard that they can permanetly damage you're nails. But, i've had them done before and yes they may damage you're nail a little. But as long as you pamper you're nails after they come off they should be fine.
I've gotten these b 4 and they may look cute but they don't just 'fall' off you have to pull them off and it can be not so nice for a feeling, plus when they come off they do take some of ur nail off, usually. I've gotten them and i was happy with them while i had them but they do make ur nails weaker till they grow back
it's way bad for your nails, and once you decide to get them off you have to wait months for them to grow out and look good again
Yes, when you take them off you'll see your nails have been indented in, they will be weak, brittle, and possibly yellow. It takes a while for them to grow back and be healthy again, just go for a well-groomed manicure with french, red, or black.
It's fine don't worry about it, my sister, her friends and other people I know have done it, there are no problems involved with any of them. What you heard is probably one of those rare cases. Freaky things can happen from anything.
it does indeed weaken your nails. i've only had my nails done with acrylic twice, i did not like what it did to my nails so i stopped going to the nail shop. my nails are fine now, no permanent damage. no more acrylic for me!! i've heard of the gel sets but i do not know if this is actually better for your nails, you may want to do some research.
Anytime you cover your nails, damage can occur. Permanently? I don't think so. Eventually, the damaged part of your nail will grow out. If your real nails grow and are strong, just get a French manicure--no acrylic. If they are damaged anyway, why not cover them. Once you start, however, remember you have to keep going back every 2-3 weeks to get fills.
All acrylic nails are bad for your natural nails........but the damage grows out eventually after you have them removed.
I have them right now. And i've had them alot before. But, you prolly heard one of the 1 out of whatever number cases. if you get them done, be SURE to check the health score the salon, if its lower than a 90, then they prolly dont clean things after every use. Or something.

When you get a French manicure on your real nails, how long does the white part last?
I'm so bummed mine only lasted 2 days :(When you get a French manicure on your real nails, how long does the white part last?
only a few days unless you do absolutely nothing. When you get a French manicure on your real nails, how long does the white part last?
2 days?!
Mine usually lasts from 2 weeks to a month.
Depends where you got it done. Professionally or yourself?
That's also something that can affect it.
Professionally, it should have lasted about 2 weeks to a month, I got mine done a week ago and I still have them :)
Than again, it depends if the person sucked, aha:)
Up to a week.
Use gloves if your using to much of your hands.
remember to seal the end everytime you apply polish,. This helps the polish last longer.
Apply polish to oil free nails, this help polish last longer too.
Use a good polish, OPI.
Apply fine even coat.
French manicure? Well it depends. On my toes it lasts like over a month! Maybe even two. (I don't wear flip flops or sandals often). And on my finger nails, like.. a week (I'm a bit of a biter....) but I redo them often.
It dosn't last that long, maybe a couple of days. Nail polish on real nails tend to chip faster then on acrylic nails. Acrylic nails are plastic and thicker and the polish tends to sit on it longer than your natural nails.
Mine lasts at least 3 weeks.
oo wow, mine lasted up to two weeks

I bite my nails. Should I get a manicure (acrylics?) before a job interview?
my nails are sooo short. its obvious i bite them. do you think an employer would rather see a french manicure on acrylics? I am interviewing at a nonprofit organization.I bite my nails. Should I get a manicure (acrylics?) before a job interview?

I have nice and good nails, i was thinking of getting acrilyc manicure done just cause it last longer ?
and i get a manicure every week and i cant be bothered, so is it worth it, and somebody know if it will ruin my nails, and make them thinner????I have nice and good nails, i was thinking of getting acrilyc manicure done just cause it last longer ?
DONT DO IT !!!
i had acrylic for about 3-4 months and i kept re-doing them.
but after a while when i wanted to ttake them off my wholeee nail came along with it =/
soososososo painfulI have nice and good nails, i was thinking of getting acrilyc manicure done just cause it last longer ?
Yes it will make your nails very thin. They file your nail down, not shorter, but thinner all over. When you finally rip the fake nails off (cause unless you let them get long enough to clip off, that is your only option) you will have a dent in your nail. I have good nails, and for my wedding I went and had mine done, they were really pretty, but not worth it. Your nails will grow back, but it will take a while to get them strong again.
i think you should just get a manicure set and ask someone with a steady hand to do it. you can get this set but the white nail varnish has a special brush to make it even. it's really good. it would be better to get that than to waste money on manicures every week.
I get mine done every 2 weeks. I love it and yeah it does damage your nails. But they grow and are fine. And if you continually get them done and not pry them off (i have before) then it'll be fine.
first do u know what acrylic manicure means if not don't do it cause it could ruin ur cuticles if u do know what it is go for t
hey, a few months ago i started getting arcylic nails done!! depending on who does them, they always turn out nice! but sometimes they can break very easily and they are a nuisance to remove.
yeah it messes them up
like they get ridges all over them
thats why im not allowed to get it done anymore, cause it ruins your names
better to get them done every week
it will ruin your nails, dont do it
it makes your nails alot thiner and it messes them up for life

first do u know what acrylic manicure means if not don't do it cause it could ruin ur cuticles if u do know what it is go for t
hey, a few months ago i started getting arcylic nails done!! depending on who does them, they always turn out nice! but sometimes they can break very easily and they are a nuisance to remove.
yeah it messes them up
like they get ridges all over them
thats why im not allowed to get it done anymore, cause it ruins your names
better to get them done every week
it will ruin your nails, dont do it
it makes your nails alot thiner and it messes them up for life

Do any girls like men with long manicured nails?
Personally, I like to keep my nails long. I have regular manicures and polish them often. I am heterosexual but feel that it's my right as a human being to have my nails how I want. I've always been jealous of women with long nails and so why not grow my own? What do people think of this?Do any girls like men with long manicured nails?
eww... we don't like that...Do any girls like men with long manicured nails?
YES!!! I love long nails on men if they are clean and shaped in proportion to their hands. As for sex it feels good ,not painfull, if the guy knows how to be gentle during foreplay and while fingering.
P.S. keep in mind i have long nails and like quys with long nail and hair and piercings.
I would be put off personally. That's not to say a man with nice hands and cuticles isn't nice - I just wouldn't like the length!
long nails on a man.............. not for me I do like to see them neat though so the manicure part is ok by me
The single most off putting thing on a man, even more so than a beard, is long nails. Nails as you describe are stomach churning. I completely support your right tohave them just think you are going to end up quite lonely.
Oh yuk!!
Mens hands should be big and beefy with short nails.
How long is long, you should have them long if you want to but not so thay look to femine perhaps and lay off the red polish.
its up to you how you want your nails but personally i don't find that attractive
Long nails on a man - bit gay that! Very fashionable with gay Latino dancers for example.
I've never really taken the appearance of male fingernails into account to be honest... But thinking about it I'd prefer them to be shorter - less risk of certain intimate activities being painful!
Personally, as a woman, if i wanted a partner with long manicured nails i'd be a lesbian. I prefer a man to have short, clean nails. Long nails are a breeding ground for bacteria.
But each to their own, enjoy!
I don't like that on my man. Ewwww.. Usually only gay guys grow out there nails and take care of them like that!!
You are entitled to have your nails as you wish and I'm entitled to be completely repulsed by men with long nails. It's effeminate and a little creepy.
gross!
absolutely nott!
deffinatly if they're long
that grosses us out.
it doesnt matter if they're clean
we don't want our man to have better looking nails
then we do,
you're a guy. keep it that way.
I love to have my nails longish. I'm not quite sure what your definition of long is. I want them clean and neat and over the tips of my fingers. And I like a jewel red. Not fire engine red but like ruby red with gold flecks (no not glitter I HATE glitter on my nails)
Obviously you have the right to do what you want. but we really dont like that......
That seem just wrong ew. That is so not attractive.
Don't grow long nails. That would just be weird.
Long.. no.. manicured (like kept clean) yeah..
oh noo please dont it just doesnt look right for men to have long nails
Each to their own I say and if it makes you happy then go for it but personnally I couldn't date a man with long nails.
i would say do what ever makes you happy, but for my personal opinion i wouldn't date someone with long nails, even though you say you get regular manicures, i just associate long nails on a guy as being dirty. plus i wouldn't want my bf scratching me all the time. i scratch myself enough with my own nails lol. anywho if thats what makes you happy, then keep em and when you find the right girl, it shouldn't matter to her. =)
Nooo !! ew no short and NOT MANICURED
and also, it would be painful while fingering the girl ! eww
how long you talking? i'm all for men who take care of their nails, don't get me wrong. i definitely don't prefer a man who has dirt %26amp; whatever else underneath them. But, long nails like women -- no, not for me. nuh-uh.
Mmmmm........... interesting. Any other indications that your have a dominant feminine side?
I don't think that's attractive. I personally don't like it.
your right, if you want them that way then have them that way, but to be honest...im pretty sure that i have never met anyone who finds that attractive!
long nails are nasty! prefer if men have short nails! its more manly 4 a start!
My nails grow quite fast and I have to cut them every three to four weeks. I get embarassed when they are long, in case someone notices.
I don't think it's cool for a man to have long nails. If you said you use them to play guitar, then at least you would have an excuse.
But I would still think you are a bit gay.
heck no

How 2 take care of my nails-i took off my artificial nails-i like french manicure?
If you took off the nails, then all you can do is put them back on for your nails to have the french manicure look. If you have had artificial tips applied, find someone who will sculpt a nail. Then it will be much stronger, and much less likely to get infection under the tip.buy cream wrinkle cream

Nails (manicure)?
I live in St.petersburg ,Florida and I would like to get a manicure long fake nails with cool design on them dose anyone who lives near me no a CHEAP place to go to get it done like under 25 dolars???Nails (manicure)?
You are not going to find a place that is going to be cheaper than 40-55. Look in the yellow pages and call around. Your going to be asking how much is it to get acrylics and get them airbrushed...Nails (manicure)?
just look for your local spa place.. they should have some manicurist... it's pricey , but it's worth it since they'll last longer and the paint won't come off as easily

How often do you get your nails filled after a manicure?
Yes, you can get away without a fill-in for close to a month, but as soon as you get $15 and time, run to the nail shop! How often do you get your nails filled after a manicure?
2 weeks on averageHow often do you get your nails filled after a manicure?
shouldn't be necessary if you are having your own natural nails done...remember, some people can actually grow them and don't need to use artificial nails
2 weeks... unfortunately!
every other week depending on your preference and how hard you are on your hands
about two weeks depending on how fast your nails grow
usually two weeks.
Normally 2 weeks but it depends on you

How do I get liquid eyeliner off my newly manicured nails?
Literally, a few hours after I got them french manicured, i did my make up. It came out perfect - other than a freaking huge gash of black across four of the nails on my left hand!
I've tried using handwash, a bar of soap, and two (AKA all) of my make-up removers. ): Do i HAVE to use nailpolish remover? How do I get liquid eyeliner off my newly manicured nails?
omg this has happened to me sooo many times. Sorry but it will not come off!!! Your best bet is to repaint them

How many of you ladies have bought the pretty manicured nails even if your natural nails were gorgeous?
What is it about fake nails? I've never had a personal manicure that I paid for out of my own pocket. Do you think I should get one for my son's wedding in May?How many of you ladies have bought the pretty manicured nails even if your natural nails were gorgeous?
i have really pretty natural nails, i've gotten a lot of compliments on them.
they're really long and narrow, but i still like having fake nails.
i have no idea why, but they're just so pretty and glamourous!
i get them done like every 2 weeks.
it's kind of hard to stop after you start because the glue can warp your nails and make them look ugly. How many of you ladies have bought the pretty manicured nails even if your natural nails were gorgeous?
YES THEY LOOK GREAT IN PERSON AND awesome IN PHOTOS!!!
I've done acrylics when I had NO nails at all, but they made my nails very weak. I decided to grow mine out, and it is going good, just a few more mm. If you dont have nice nails, you could grow them out nicely by May, but if you want a quick fix, sure get them done.buy cream wrinkle cream

Poll: Are your finger nails in need of a manicure?
or are they in good condition?Poll: Are your finger nails in need of a manicure?
Yes, I would say a manicure.
I painted them a few days ago but since it wasnt done properly, it has started to chip.
:)Poll: Are your finger nails in need of a manicure?
Just had one at a spa in Las Vegas.
But normally, I'd have to say . . . they normally are in need of a manicure. I should take better care of them.
I actually filed them earlier %26amp; they are looking ok..wouldn't mind a nice manicure though :)
Definitely need a manicure!! They're in an awful state!
actually yeah i do. lol.
i should go soon. haha.
They're in great condition, so no.
Very. Are you offering? Please.
Just painted them !!

Do your nails need to be that long to get a manicure?
ive given a voucher i got for christmas to my cousin and my sister but she says her nails arent long enough to get them done, were trying to treat my cousin as shes having a bit of a difficult time.Do your nails need to be that long to get a manicure?
doesn't really matter how long they are
you get the hand massage and the cuticles trimmed
the nails shaped, buffed or painted depending on what you want
its a nice soothing experience and you feel good afterwards
happy New YearDo your nails need to be that long to get a manicure?
A good manicure will actually help your nails grow. It can also be relaxing having someone pamper your hands. That was a kind gesture by yourself.
To get the most out of it, they need to be at least long enough to be shaped. Just tell her to wait a month or six weeks. x Of course, she could get it done now, but I'm just saying what I would do.
no they dont have to be, they can still do what they need to do if they are short
You can do it at any length but it helps to have long nails but get it done professionally otherwise your nails could go freaky. p.s I hope your coisin gets better soon.
no just need to have white bits.
nope, women and even men with short nails get manicures all the time.
regular nails can get manicures.
Your'e nails don't have to be long to look good, neat and tidy with a good manicure looks better than long talons anyday.
Nope. If you are going to get your nails painted short, please don't use a bright or dark color. It will make them seem even shorter.
Hope I helped!
i think a manicure is a really good idea. it doesnt matter how long your nails are- they can make your nails look longer by using nail varnish and techniques. my nails are practically none existent but i get a professional manicure from my beauty therapist bf whenever i want one and he says he can treat any1 with short nails.

Getting my nails done (not french manicure again!)?
I was thinking of painting my finger nails with new colors, and if someone have a better idea than typical french manicure, better post it here. And maybe some suggestion on painting my toe nails, what is the best color? Thanks a lot!Getting my nails done (not french manicure again!)?
well i dont agree that yo have to do something for certain ages!!! please people...have some fun. this is only polish and it changes. i suggest doing something fun or funky. you will get the most compliments and everyone will be starring at your adorbale toes!! i have been in the business since 93 and i always make the clients go outside their box. i have a lady the other day that was a coal miner and never paints her toes....we did bright red with a hawaiin orchid and some little beads and she loved them. she couldnt stop smiling. i also suggest going to a different tech if she never gets you outside of your box. i dot have one client who just does color anynmore. we are always painting or drawing or sticking some kind fo anil art on the big toe or ring finger. have fun and be yourself. colors that are big right now are darks---blue-purple-and browns........brights--orangish, reds, and pinks....also try yellow and greens. stripes, polka-dots, and reversing frenches look great too. i love polka-dots but do them in all different sizesGetting my nails done (not french manicure again!)?
if you're tan, white nail polish looks really good on your toes. my friend got that but on her big toes they painted a little mini palm tree. it was really cute! for your nails..hmm i usually get a french but you could paint them a solid bright color. that's always fun!
Well, how old are you. Not that I need to know, but you should get somthing that complements your age.
-15 electric colors, blue, green!
15-20 sparking colors, reds, pinks, orange
20 + reds, browns, orange, natural colors, pinks,
Lime green!
Or something bright that pops and catches someones attention!
orange and yellow is very in right now. also bright blues.
ok .......

:.......: say thats a nail the top hot pink the line silver and the bottm white
fire engine red!
Bright colours are in this season....try bright orange, hot pinks, or my favourite, deep blue.
neon orange is really in

Depends where you are in the world as some places would say this is the other way around but this is the most common way in the UK, french manicure is light pink base polish with bright white tips over the top, american manicure is sheer nude base colour with soft white tips under neath, should look like you have clean and perfect nails not like you have tips painted on. normal manicure is any one colour polish, the actual care and maintenance varies on what the salon offers, usually nail shaping, cuticle treatments, exfoliate and moisturise the hand and buff the nails before painting.
This applies to natural nails and false nails, If you want your tips painted colours there isn't an offical term for that you'd just have to say you wanted a natural nail manicure with colour painted tips andtell them what colours, it's not that unusal, I get people asking for black with pink or silver tips, stuff like that.Nail Manicures help!?
french manicure is the one where your nails are like a beige colour and the tip is white.
a manicure is just when you go to get your nails filed and get them designed a pretty colour.
ive never heard of american manicure.

I am going to a spa for my birthday and am wondering if I should get a manicure or pedicure? my toenails are all mest up, and short and the skin around them are gross, can they fix them. do facials work?, and do you have to be completely naked for a massage? can you wear a takini for a massage? i dont want to show anything! thats ambarrsing! how do you now a spa is good? to get a french manicure, do your nails need to be long? please answer as many ?'s as possible, give me advice pleaseWhat is a silk wrap for nails?do you prefer a pedicure or manicure or manicure for my first spa visit?
In a silk wrap, they add silk fibers to your nails and seal it for strength. As far as me, I would 10 times rather have a pedicure than a manicure. It's so relaxing! And, it can sometimes be hard to get all the rough skin, and clean up little toenails yourself (because you have to bend over, while the salon person has more leverage). You can keep as little or as much on for the massage as you want. If you don't want to show too much, just do what feels comfortable. They will keep whatever part they're not massaging covered with a towel. Remember, they see bodies all day...my friend's dad who is an ob-gyn says that he never understands why women are uncomfortable getting pelvic exams. He says that he does so many, that it's just automatic--they all seem the same, and he doesn't ever notice if people shave or whatever. lol I'm sure massage therapists are the same way. If you want to be modest, you could wear boy shorts and a sports bra. Enjoy! What is a silk wrap for nails?do you prefer a pedicure or manicure or manicure for my first spa visit?

Is it possible to make french manicure with gel on short nails?
Yes, but the chances of the nails staying on lowers. I have had nails put on when my real nails were very short. Is it possible to make french manicure with gel on short nails?
Yes. Your need to find a manicurist who can do this. And the manicurist needs to take a class from the company sales rep.
who sold them the gel light, and use quality supplies that will last.
Gel and acrylic are about the same. They are both the same as for the health of the nail, because you have to file the nail plate for the gel to stay.Is it possible to make french manicure with gel on short nails?
yes...you simply create the part that you would normally paint only lower...it makes your nails looks shorter though...i think it looks fine.

Will a french manicure look good on short nails?
my friend wants me to get my nails done with her in a couple of days, an some of my nails are shorter than the others. so the nail ppl will probably file them down to the same size.
so will a french manicure look good on short nails vs long ones? Will a french manicure look good on short nails?
It might not look quite as nice as on long ones but I'm sure it will look just fine. Will a french manicure look good on short nails?
Yes, absolutely. People get french manicures on their toes, and it makes them look nice and clean. Go for it!
I think you should spend your money on a better edumacation.
the length of the nail doesn't matter. its the shape of the fingers that makes the manicure look good.
if you have slender fingers, your nails will look good long or short. if you have thick fingers, short nails will make them look thicker and broad so you should go with longer lengths.
hi, i do nails and yes, the white edge does give the illusion of a longer free edge, also they look more natural when they are shorter.
YA, IV HAD MINE DONE LIKE THAT BEFORE, BUT IT DOES KINDA DEPEND ON THE SALON!!
In my opinion french looks better on shorter rather than longer nails. My nails grow long naturally and I get them cut and filed for a french
nope!!it won't i tried it i am 12 and i am a gurl
yes
i think they actually look much better on shorter nails because on long nails, french tips just make it look fake, TRUST ME!
i have short nails, i keep them that way, and i use to have french tips on them
it was pretty good lookin
it all depends on who you go to and how good of a job they know how to do. it will look good as long as you get a good job done.
Yes
yes it will look good!!!
like some of the other people said it will make them look longer nad it looks very natural compared with long nails!!! good luck hope u loke it!!!
yea...nails always look purty when you get a manicure...they're always nice and shiny!
A French manicure looks better on short nails anyway
Yes. actually I like shorter nails better. It will look nice, I've had it done myself.
it will make them look longer
it looks better on long nails...but you still have done it with short (hopefully its not so short you can see your finger) Otherwise it will still look elegant...so go ahead do it!!!

Is it strange to go to a nail salon and get a massage but not a manicure?
i really feel like i need a massage and i want to get one later. however, i feel strange going to a nail salon (the only place where you can get a massage around me) and getting a massage without getting my nails done. i just feel like most people don't do it. that isn't what's deferring me from getting one, it's just that nail salons are awkward enough as it is, and i'm trying to make it less so. would it really be that strange to go to a nail salon and get a massage but not a manicure? Is it strange to go to a nail salon and get a massage but not a manicure?
If the salon offers a full body or back massage then yes, you can go and get a massage only and not your nails, hair, fett, etc.. If its a full service salon then you have a choice to get what you want done from their menu. If you are going to a nail salon and only want a hand and arm massage thats a great too, not to mention if you only want a leg or foot because a massage is also offered with pedicure. Is it strange to go to a nail salon and get a massage but not a manicure?
Do they offer back massages? If it's offered its there to be taken. Lots of people are shy, but really, what's the worst that can happen? You get a bad massage? You can just go in and say it softly to the person in charge.
';I came for a back massage';
and if it makes you feel better, tell your best friend and take her along

french manicure!! Lovely...A nail is better with a nailpolish or with a french manicure?
A fench manicure is neutral so it goes with more clothes and you don't have to worry about changing the color.
French manicure definetely! nail polish starts to look really bad and chipped after a while. As a French Manicure always looks clean and fresh.
i think french manicure!!! it looks really nice

It's a matter of taste. I prefer the french manicure look on my wife more often, however I can appreciate a nice nailpolish that compliments an outfit too!
french manicure.looks more natural and healthy n it goes with most clothes too :)
I think that the french manicure gives a much more clean, professional look. Nail polish gives more of a glamor girl look but french manicure is better
A French manicure always look,s nice and very stylish. It,s a look that will never go out of fashion.
the nail is always better with a french manicure as the nail looks plain and shiney with it.
nails always look good in nail color...but htat doesnt meant hat nails look terrible wiht french manicure
with a french manicure nails look natural and pretty and healthybut the thing is if your into cooking or eating with your fingers,a french manicure is not for you as it tends to stain your nails and the discoloration is more evident when compared to colored nails
French Polish for me it is natural and stylish
hi, i think that depends of your style and the occassion that you may have in mind. If its something more casual and outdoorsy then a nail looks nice with a nail polish that matches the outfit you've opted to wear. If the occassion is more formal then i like how a french manicure looks. I guess it depends on how well you maintain your nails. Either way i think with the right shade either works, but if you've never had them french manicured before then go ahead and pamper yourself:)
best of luck
french manicUre is better as people focus on ur nails and makes them vital and attractive
fashion only should not be a main criteria- healthy complexion including the care of nails also necessary
it really depends on the occasion or your outfit or whatever.
try something new!
put on a layer of beige nail polish. then paint your tips a dark color.(like a french manicure tip) and then put on a layer of clear nailpolish.
it's different and easy to match with.
french manicure
i think french manicures are better, but it really depends onthe occasion. you may want to wera a simple nail color if you are going to informal occasions, but a natural french manicure is the best way to go for formal occasion.
it depends on your age
cut your nails,and stay healthy.
i say nail polish they look pretty and colorful!

any store that has nail polish
If Wet%26amp;Wild brand has white nail polish (and it does; I'm wearing it at the moment) then Opi or something expensive probably would too. Try the drugstore for the cheap stuff and Ulta or Sephora for the expensive stuff.
You can go to a nail place and buy a bottle there. They usually have really good brands, and its the type that they use for doing manicures.
usually, the french manicure set is sold with the while paint, and two or three other shades, like light pink or cream. so in any beauty store, you will find it, mostly

10 percent is the minimum, more if you were happy with the service and quality of the work.
I usually give about 5 dollars. If someone gives me a massage, I'll usually tip them a dollar.

What is the product that many asian nail salons use to create a straight line when doing french manicures?
I know they paint the white sloppily on then use something to create a straight line...what do they use??What is the product that many asian nail salons use to create a straight line when doing french manicures?
they use what is nail art polish it comes in different colors with a very thin fine brush rather than a regular; thicker brush that you will find in your typical nail polish bottle. You can buy it at your neighborhood beauty supply store. In the past I have purchased white; black and silver(all seperate colors)What is the product that many asian nail salons use to create a straight line when doing french manicures?
maybe they stick surgical tapes over the nails, leaving only ends to be painted white. when done/dried, the tapes are then removed. that's why you still get straight lines even when it's a sloppy work.
paper. just put it againt your finger nail

Men only...what do you prefer..pink and white french manicure or natural nails?
I go back and forth on the nail issue. I prefer the neat look of a french manicure but I'm always torn between natural nails or acrylic nails (fake but tasteful nails)....what do guys prefer?Men only...what do you prefer..pink and white french manicure or natural nails?
either one..nice long nails are a turn on...so are natural...Men only...what do you prefer..pink and white french manicure or natural nails?
Only the length desired and the health of your nails should determine whether or not you get acrylic nails. If your nails are healthy and the length you like, then there's no need for artificial nails. You can get any finish you like, from plain clear, to French to colored; whatever. It's just that many women have difficulty growing and keeping longer nails and many more have cracking and splitting nails for a variety of reasons. Anyone who has had healthy long nails can tell you that it can be frustrating when you snap, crack, split or break one of them. The acrylics or gel nails are much harder and will last longer and take more abuse without damage. All long nails, natural or artificial, can be very attractive. It depends on your own sense of style and taste, how you dress, etc. Personally, I prefer long nails, about 1/4 - 1/2 inch (or more) longer than fingertips on women, and any finish from clear to French to color, as long as it looks great and professional - no chips. I've even seen a young lady wear different colors on each finger, and it didn't look too bad. It wouldn't look too great though in an office setting or at the opera - so it also depends on where you're going, what you're wearing, etc.
It won't matter to most guys. Probably would matter more to girls....
So natural nails.
I think natural, it is more ';you'; which is what we like, don't be somebody you aren't
to be honest i don't really care. I noticed when my girlfriend (now ex) had her nails done and I just said they look cute blah blah blah but I really couldn't tell the difference lol
i dont know diff between the two

How long should your nails be for a french manicure?
is there a certain length.
my nails grow fast, but they aren't very strong, and its not what i usually get done.
so i'm wondering if it matters.
i know they can paint the white anywere, but for it to look good..How long should your nails be for a french manicure?
Look at the natural line on your fingernails. The white on your nails is the same as on the false tip. That is what the French manicure is, along with the square style of filing.
As long as you have a small line of white it will look nice. If your nails are weak, go to your local nail salon and have them covered with gel. Basically it gives you a strong coat to keep them strong. It's all your own nail but 10 times stronger. They can also show you what length will work best for you. Good luck.

i know they can paint the white anywere, but for it to look good..How long should your nails be for a french manicure?
Look at the natural line on your fingernails. The white on your nails is the same as on the false tip. That is what the French manicure is, along with the square style of filing.
As long as you have a small line of white it will look nice. If your nails are weak, go to your local nail salon and have them covered with gel. Basically it gives you a strong coat to keep them strong. It's all your own nail but 10 times stronger. They can also show you what length will work best for you. Good luck.
How long should your nails be for a french manicure?
any length, just don't have them too long, beacuse it won't last long that way.

I have chipping, very brittle nails. Should I have a manicure done for prom?
If I should (meaning it won't make my nails worse) what should I do? Do I bring my own nail polish?I have chipping, very brittle nails. Should I have a manicure done for prom?
Yes, because your nails are so bad, a manicure can make them better.
You can bring your own polish, but they will have many to choose from.I have chipping, very brittle nails. Should I have a manicure done for prom?
Your nails re brittle because you are not recieving enough nutrition, and when you don't eat healthyit effect your hair, skin, and nails.
I think you should buy some sort of vitamins, and go get your nails one just for prom and then just leave them be after that.
duh do you wanna look ghetto or look nice for your prom thats kinda stupid question sorry to say but it obvs
DEF get them done. ask the nail technician for the best way to have them done tho. ask her how to solve the problem.
i would buy the nails they sell in CVS, they work really good for a one time thing and they will last a few days if you use good glue. I use them when i dont want to spend alot of money on a manicure and they wont ruin your nails as bad.

What is a fast way to get rid of yellow toe nails, only on the big toes, i wanna get a french manicure?
I have been told that if you wear nail polish for long periods of time that it can cause yellowing of the nail.
If you have a nail fungus you can treat it with vicks vapor rub. You have to continually apply it. It's a very slow process and can take months to heal but it's very effective. What is a fast way to get rid of yellow toe nails, only on the big toes, i wanna get a french manicure?

Yup, right before prom too. :)Have you got a manicure and mest your nails up the first day?
yes.
the first hour! it stunk!Have you got a manicure and mest your nails up the first day?
of course i think every lady has at one time or another
no
Never gotten a manicure before.
ughh yeaa! hate it when that happens
omg.yes i HATE it!!!!!!!
ya. i got a really nice french manicure, and then i scratched my leg, and one nail got completely ruined.
yep! and had them done the next day again! trust me!
No, because I'm always VERY careful after I get a mani!
one too many times :[
yeahh
it sucks
yuppppp.
Oh yes, it's bound to happen.
Try to avoid getting a manicure on days that you know you have a lot of stuff to do with your hands (cleaning the house, cooking a big meal, working in the lawn, etc.).
Also be sure to be a princess (sit still and do nothing) for an hour or so, that will give you plenty of time for the nail polish to harden.
A few scratches here and there. It really sucked cause I had to dig up my own nail plish and do it over...it looked like crap.
Thanx for asking.buy cream wrinkle cream

Whenever i go to the nail place and ask for a french manicure with BLACK tips, they never know what im talking
about! its soooo annoying. last time i was all ';can i get black tips'; and the asian lady was all ';U WAN YO EYEBROW DONE?'; im like wtf?
anybody know how to specify to the people what i want? is there like a word for it?
and do u know any places that would do that around the bay area? preferably somewhere in san carlos, redwood city, belmont, menlo park etc...Whenever i go to the nail place and ask for a french manicure with BLACK tips, they never know what im talking
print out a picture of manicured nails, colour in the tip with a sharpie and show it to them and say that's what you want. otherwise go somewhere where they speak fluent english.Whenever i go to the nail place and ask for a french manicure with BLACK tips, they never know what im talking
She was probably playing dumb because she has a brain and knows that a french manicure with black tips is tacky, damnit.

When you go to a nail salon, do you get both a manicure and pedicure in a visit or just one service in all?
Usually when I ask to get a manicure, and the nail technician would ask if I would like a pedicure also. I usually come in intending to get one or the other, but are talked into getting both services.
Since it's winter time, I don't know which service to get or none at all because its so cold. I would probaly be all bundled up in boots and all. Not a good idea to be all bundled up in boots coming into a salon and walking out into the cold in flip flops/sandals. Which it better? Do a lot of people usually get their nails done in the winter? I don't know, walk out with freezing pretty hands or freezing pretty feet in flip flops out the salon. When you go to a nail salon, do you get both a manicure and pedicure in a visit or just one service in all?
I just got both done last night and I walked out in fuzzy boots. You just have to sit with those weird lights on your nails for a while. But unless you have a really good reason, it's kinda stupid to get your toes done in the winter because no one sees 'em anyways! When you go to a nail salon, do you get both a manicure and pedicure in a visit or just one service in all?
:) personally I believe that a girl needs to look nice no matter the season and nice hands and feet are in the top list of a woman's must do. Most nail salons have fans to dry your nails so you could just dry them there and then put on your boots after making sure they are dry, I would also recommend not putting on a dark nail color, maybe something natural or just clear and have your pedicure done to have nice and soft feet. :)
If I was going to the mall I would be ok with getting both and let my feet dry while I shopped, although I guess Id have to bring a large purse to put my boots into while the nails were drying. If I was going to walk outside into a dangerous situation where the flip flops could make me fall, I would not have my feet done. OR get the pedicure first. Take a break look at a magazine, and then have a long slow manacure and put the boots back on mght work too.
Pedicures can be dangerous if your salon isn't clean. WOmen get all kinds of horrible infections because they don't clean the foot baths as often as they should and don't clean the filters.
I skip pedicures all together... They are just not safe.
it depends on the salon
my bet is with the economy the way it is, they'll be happy to accommodate you with anything you want.
It's cheaper when you do it at the same time. I haven't been getting pedicures simply because no one can see my feet in this weather. Of course I get my nails done in winter, I still have to maintain the sexy!
get both done - women typically go slack on the pedicures during the winter - big no- no. By spring time neglected feet will be a disaster. I go every two weeks for both - it's religion for me!

When i use nail stencils at home for a french manicure and i take of the stencils.......?
they leave some of the sticky behind when i take them off. it's so annoying and nail varnish remover wont get rid of it. does anyone know how i can get the sticky off or prevent it from happening?? please help me, 10 points for best answer! xWhen i use nail stencils at home for a french manicure and i take of the stencils.......?
easiest way to make a ';smile line'; is to take a piece of cardboard and cut a diamond pattern, then when you stick your fingernail through it, and run the white color polish it will not go onto your fingers, just onto your nail. It just will take some time painting each fingernail. When i use nail stencils at home for a french manicure and i take of the stencils.......?
Why use the stencils when you can do it the easy way.
just paint the white on the tips, it doesnt have to be perfect.
then take a Qtip and dip it in polish remover, then go and shape the white line.
works great for me
and the stencils sometimes bleed through underneath.
Sometimes stencils can be too sticky. It's very irritating i agree lol. 100% Acetone will usually do the trick :)
use sellotape - honestly! wrap it around the figer tip, paint, then leave it to dry

Should guys get manicures and wear nail polish?
Trying to see if its acceptable for guys to get a salon manicure and wear nail polish, I've seen a few guys wearing clear but not colorShould guys get manicures and wear nail polish?
There is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't. And just as it is a good idea to keep your feet and toenails healthy, it is also important to keep your finger nails healthy. So why not have a monthly manicure. A possible problem could well be alleviated. Go on. Give it a try.Should guys get manicures and wear nail polish?

Will using nail polish remover ruin my acrylic tip manicure?
I recently got a fake nail manicure [the fake tip kind], and I had them paint my nails a light pink.
Well, the day after that, I had to paint a bedroom a deep blue, and needless to say, I got blue paint all over my nails.
What can I use to get all of the paint off of my nails without ruining the coating of 'stuff' [it started out as a power, and then he mixed it with something that smelled like alcohol.]?Will using nail polish remover ruin my acrylic tip manicure?
Use a non-acetone nail polish remover. It will say on the label if it is.
If it doesn't specifically say ';non-acetone'; then assume it contains it and will remove the nail. Will using nail polish remover ruin my acrylic tip manicure?
yeah nail polish remover will melt it, maybe you could go back in and have them fix it for you
try just scrubbing the paint off.buy cream wrinkle cream

How To Do a French Manicure? I Have Really Short Nails :(?
Okay so I am trying to do my nails but they are shot. Like on my ring fingers my nail isn't passed the skin :(. But I am looking for some tips on how to do French Manicures on Short nails. Any sites or tips would help a lot. Thank you in advance :)How To Do a French Manicure? I Have Really Short Nails :(?
ok for this you need:
white nail polish
clear nail polish
nail polish remover
and q-tips
First you paint the bottom half of your nail with white nail polish, then you take the q-tip and dip it in the nail polish remover. remove some of the white to leave a white white at the bottom of your nail. do this to all the nails, then paint a clear coat on them. take another q-tip and dip it into the nail polish again and rub it on the skin around your nail to take out the nail polish that went on the skin. it doesnt matter if your nails are short they still look beautiful.hope this helps!!!! it works for me and my sis so i thought i would tell yaHow To Do a French Manicure? I Have Really Short Nails :(?
you can try fake nails, or just do it with your natural nails the way you would do it to all of your longer nails.
In my humble opinion, I think a single color on the nails looks much better (compared to a French manicure).
i got a french manicure pen, %26amp;%26amp; its from sally hansen. i think it was pretty cheap, and its extremley easy to use.
they dont really work with short nail.s try growing your nails out! :P

Would you personally go to the salon to get Acrylic Nails put on or your Natural Nails Manicured?
Acrylics. People can more easily do maniucures on their own.Would you personally go to the salon to get Acrylic Nails put on or your Natural Nails Manicured?
If I had nice nails, I would have my nails manicured, but if my nails were too short, too wierd shaped, I would go for acrylic. I am a terrible nail biter, have only been to the salon once for a manicure, and I loved it and it actually did help me to stop biting my nails. I would probably do a acrylic instead next time however, just to see how it goes.Would you personally go to the salon to get Acrylic Nails put on or your Natural Nails Manicured?
i used to get acrylic nails and my nails are fine! i used to bite my nails like crazy so i would get acrylics because i love long nails. pros of acrylic: long lasting, long length, you can design them, easy to maintain cons they cost money to put on and fill if and only if somehow it got ripped off it hurts like heck, if you go to a ';dirty salon'; it is possible to get an infection. I stopped biting my nails so i now have long pretty nails and i am lucky my nails are a nice shape almost look like acrylics
You've probobly heard this tons of times but acrylics are horrible for your nails. I grow mine out and get natural manicures which look just as good and sometimes better. If you are looking for fancy, go with a french manicure because it looks nice when your nails are natural.
Manicure it doesnt risk your nails being damaged. And Acrylic are pricy. CAuse you have to keep filling. AND Acrylic ruin your natural nail.
I would just get them manicured. Acrylic nails are too much of a hassle and take forever to get off. You also have to fill them. They hurt, too.
well it depends i love acrylic but when you dont have the money to get them taken off and you rip them off it hurts! manicures are nice to but they chip easier.
NOOO.
I do my nails natural.
way to ask this question two times ...
and yeah i personally would...
What manicure supplies to bring to the nail salon?
I want to buy my own manicure supplies to bring to the nail salon.
The obvious would be a nail filer, top coat nail polish, clear nail polish, different nail polish of your own choice, nail polish remover...what else?
I want to bring own nail/manicure stuff to avoid infections or germs from another person like this it's more sanitary!
If you can suggest really good brands I would appreciate it!
I want a nice, clear and detailed answer on what supplies I need to bring there so that only my stuff is used thank you!
I really want good answers!
I waWhat manicure supplies to bring to the nail salon?
There is no reason for you to do this as long as you go to a salon which has high standards when it comes to proper sanitation and disinfection. For example, nail files should never be used on more than one customer unless they can - and have been, disinfected. But, most files are disposable, thus they need to be discarded after each and every customer. The polish - both topcoat, and colored polishes do not harbor bacteria, so no need to worry about that. Nail polish remover is not necessary to bring with you since the tech will be using a fresh pad every time she uses it. They normally use acetone anyway, and not polish remover. My suggestion is to make sure you go to a salon that disinfects their implements, and uses only those on you. Avoid the chop shops that don't disinfect their implements, or who use files and sanding bands over, and over. That is how you will get an infection. But honestly?Go to a top notch, CLEAN salon and you really don't have to worry about it. Also, please consider this. Who is going to disinfect your things in between visits? You would have to disinfect each and every thing that came into contact with your nails and/or skin between visits. Having your own things to bring to a salon may sound like a good idea, but if you fail to disinfect properly, your tools won't be clean. And that can cause you just as many problems as them using dirty implements, or files on you. I hope this helps!

Can you get a manicure that doesn't leave you with shiny or glossy nails?
I've bitten my nails, badly, for about 30 years. Now I'm a guy with nails but not much idea how to take care of them...and I want to keep them. I went with my sister last week, got a manicure, and liked it. It'll help me keep my nails, but they put a shiny clear polish on them. Is there a dull-type polish I can ask for?Can you get a manicure that doesn't leave you with shiny or glossy nails?
You don't need polish and I can't believe they put polish on you. You can have your nails buffed. This is done with a buffing cream and or special nail buffing brick. This will take out the ridges and make a smooth finish to your nails. The final step is a special techniques called shine buff which will permanently leave your nails shiny but WITHOUT nail polish. If you don't want this ask the tech not to buff them to a shine. This is a very old technique still used by PROfessional Nail Techs today. THis is a very health way to do your nails because the buffing stimulates the nail bed and brings blood to the nail surface which feeds the nail with nutrients. Also.....TIP, keep your cuticles soft and plyable by using cream or oil, oil like vitamin e or even ask your tech for a good cuticle treatment you can do at home. Pssst...Olive oil is excellent. :)Can you get a manicure that doesn't leave you with shiny or glossy nails?
Yes, there's a type of nail polish that removes all of the shiny glossiness of the manicure and give the nails a matte finish.
OPI is a brand of nail polish that makes a matte finish nail polish. Just ask the person doing the manicure to give you a coat of it. They should know what you mean.
Tell the manicurist that you don't want any polish.
Yes, dip your finger in tuna and then stick your hands in a bag of cats.
Yes, you just simply say, ';No polish for me please.';
tell them you don't need polish!!! or ask for a dull polish...

Do acrylic nails last longer than natural manicured nails? Also, how sanitary are those nail salons....?
I've never had acrylic nails, and I'm certainly thinking about getting them, but not without getting some tips and advice on the question above, and what to expect, and ask for from those the salons.Do acrylic nails last longer than natural manicured nails? Also, how sanitary are those nail salons....?
I've gotten my nails done many many times. They only last as long as you make them and what I mean by that is that your nails will grow out and so will the nail along with it, thats when you need to get a refill if you plan on sticking with them. If the nails arent done right they can break, chip, or come up on the sides and they will do that anyway but thats if you have the on for a long time and dont bother to go back and get them fixed or refilled. Most places are ran by oriental people... thats not to be taken as racist because I dont have a problem with them I'm saying that because some are hard to understand and especially when they wear one of those white mask things over their mouths, you really have to listen to what they're saying. I know some people dont go because they hear some places are unsanitary but I've never had a problem with that and I've been to like 5 different nail salons in my area. They'll probably ask if you want a square shaped tip... thats usually what most people get when they get acrylic but some get pointed too, its your choice. If you want a design on your nail make sure you tell them when you bring them the color and sometimes they'll ask anyway what color you want. It takes about 30-45mins for you to be done. They file, and buff your natural nail and sometimes clip them if they're too long... then they'll fit a artificial nail and glue it on. Then they'll ask you how long you want your nails and you just tell them and they have a nail cutter and will sometimes show you where they'll cut and you just tell them if the length is Ok. Then they'll cut them all and then buff though and use a machine to smooth them out. Then they'll put on the acrylic and once they're done that they'll buff them down and use the machine. Then once they're done they'll ask you to wash your hands at their sink and then when you come back they'll usually ask you to pay before they paint your nails and then they'll paint your nails and once they're done that they'll sit you at a dryer until your nails are dry. Yeah, you usually tip them... I tip them like $3. I've never had someone manicure my natural nails... I do them myself but I've done someone before and she said her polish doesnt last real long because of the work she does around the house or something. Honestly, I would say a regular manicure might not last as long as acrylic but acrylic can chip, break, peel up on the sides, and it grows out with your nail.Do acrylic nails last longer than natural manicured nails? Also, how sanitary are those nail salons....?
acrilic do last long and u can keep them up or u can use the uv rays.but they make ur nails really sonf and sensitive wen u utake them off
No doubt about acrylic nails making hands look elegant. If kept up to maintenance levels of fill in ,the new growth every 3 weeks,it can work out expensive.
The down sides are,the nail technician will cut your nails short, then use a fairly rough nail shaper on the surface of your natural nail, taking a layer off so the acrylic will bond better.Doing this makes your nails sore and it can take days to settle down.
It can take at least an hour, but they will look great. You then have to have the regrowth filled in,later on.
For me the downside is you can get a fungus infection when they are left on too long.Your own natural nails get very thin due to the roughing of the surface. When you finally decide to take them off for good,it takes a year for them to grow strong again.Putting your hands in hot water is painful as the nails are very thin. Most salons are pretty clean, but you must remember the equipment used on you has already been used on many customers.
acylic last lnger. i dont know about the other part
acrilic nails are the way to go. manicures are great for natural nails but depending on how oily your nail beds are the polish chips way faster. The only downfall to acrilic/gel/fiberglass/silk nails are the up keep u can make a set of acrilic last u up to a year if u take care of them properly. I would avoid the so called ';chop shops'; the little places in mall etc, try finding a place that does the ';Extreme'; acrilic. the old acrilic has a product in it called mmn it is the ingredient that makes the nails stick better but it is supposed to be cancer causing . this is why your natural nails look like hell when u take them off with the extreme acrilic is mmn free and wont damage your natural nails but be careful dont let anyone buff them off as u are likely to buff into the natural nail and cause damage with acrilic sosk them off in acetone and the only damage is dryness till u put lotion on. also with any type of fake nail its like a band aid on skin it takes a day or two to get back to normal when u take it off... good luck!!
I get acrylic nails sometimes. I like them because the polish doesn't really chip and they last longer than a regular manicure, and they just look put together.
However, they are kind of high maintenance. You have to get them filled about every 2 weeks, and when you get them taken off, your natural nails look TERRIBLE. They have to file the tops and cut them really short, so they look bad if you don't get a manicure right away or have them put back on.
Some salons are nicer/cleaner than others but some of them are really nasty. Ask your friends where they get nails done.
Do acrylic for special occasions like a wedding you are attending or a gala party..
Natural last longer. The fake as nails grow will show they are
fake. So the upkeep cost money. Unless you invested on a kit yourself at home.
But also fake can destroy your own nails. You can get a nail fungus too. So becareful, cause also with fake nails depending length and you fall and the nail bends back it can also rip your own nail. That happened to a friend of mine and her nail didn't grow back until 10 years later when she decided to start filing down the meat there where the nail was.
Then she got her nail back..
I have had my finger cut from those places
i stopped going.

vitaminsAny tips on how i can make my nails grow long fast strong and thick? Also at home manicure tips?
I've always heard that for some reason, prenatal vitamins make nails grow really fast and strong. I'm not sure what makes them different from a regular multivitamin but everyone I know who's been pregnant has said the prenatal vitamins made their nails grow super fast.
As far as home manicures go, just make sure all the instruments you use are clean and take excellent care of your cuticles.
They have some garlic clear nail polish you can try. And as far as a great manicure try soaking your fingers in warm water with soap. That should give you a great manicure and your nails will feel soft and clean.
Nail Care Tips:
篓 A good time to do your manicure is after you have taken a shower, bath or after washing the dishes. This is because these activities remove the dirt from under the nail.
篓 Nail polish thinner can be used to thin out nail polish that has become too thick. Keep the polish in the refrigerator to make it last longer.
篓 Try not to use nail polish remover more than once a week. Nail polish remover causes the nails to dry out. Dry nails crack and split more easily than nails that are well hydrated (well-moisturized).
篓 A top coat or sealer is a liquid that is applied over the nail polish. Any clear nail polish can be used as a top coat or sealer. This will minimize chipping or cracking of the nail. On natural nails, a clear coat can be used every day for seven days to give the nail protection and keep the moisture in.
篓 After washing your hands, apply a cream or lotion. Hands and nails tend to get dried out from soaps and cleansers. You should try to keep your hands and cuticles well lubricated, with a moisturizer such as Aquaphor, Moisturel, Vaseline. You should use an oil or moisturizer at bedtime every night.
篓 Sometimes nail polish, dirt and bacteria can stain the nails. This can be removed by using a Q-tip or an orangewood stick with a cotton tip. Soak the cotton in 10 parts water mixed with 1 part bleach, then rub the nail where the stain is. This will remove most stains from the nails. Scrub under the nails with a nail brush or toothbrush with soap or bleach solution to remove stains under the nails.
Weekly Nail Care (15-20 minutes each week):
1. Remove any old nail polish. To remove the old polish, first moisten cotton with nail polish remover and press over the nail for a few seconds to soften the polish. Then with a firm movement, bring the cotton from the base of the nail to the tip. Repeat this process until all of the polish is gone.
2. Shape the nail, using a file or emery board. File each nail tip from corner to center; do not file in a see-saw motion with the emery board because doing so can cause ridges in the nail and nail splitting.
3. Soak the hands in warm, soapy water for a few minutes to remove dirt. Clean under free edge of nail with orangewood stick.
4. The cuticle is the skin that grows from the finger onto the base of the nail (nail root). We recommend that the cuticle not be pushed back. Leaving the cuticle intact helps to prevent infection of the nail growing tissue.
5. Now apply clear nail polish. There is no reason to waste money on several different kinds of clear polishes such as a ridgefiller, base coat, top coat or nail strengthener. They all do about the same job. After the clear polish dries, apply a color polish of your choice if you wish. Let dry. You may then reapply the clear polish as a top coat. This will help strengthen the nail and prevent chipping of the nail polish.
6. Finally, apply a moisturizing cream or lotion to the hands and cuticles. This will help prevent splitting of the nails.
Umm..there is this product sold at most drugstores (ie RiteAid, Walgreens, CVS, Eckard) thats called Nutra Nail. Its supposed to help brittle nails grow with continuted use. It's kinda like a nail polish but I think with nail growing ';vitamins'; in it. It doesnt cost more than $5 and it comes in either a green or red package near the Manicure section. I work at Walgreens...since like 2000...so thats why I know so much about it. Hope this helps!

vitaminsAny tips on how i can make my nails grow long fast strong and thick?

As a fair warning. These tips RUIN your nails, if you hae nice looking nails to begin with I would suggest a manicure rather than tips. If you're aware of this then go right ahead. :o)What is the general price range for acrylic nails with a french manicure?
They range usually from $50 and up. It just depends on the quality of the nail salon. If it is lower end it will be less, if it is higher end it will be more.

Other than painting them or having french manicures is there any way to get naturally whiter nail tips?
eg is there anything missing in my diet or do people use hand and nail creams that they've found to help? or is it something else I haven't considered?Other than painting them or having french manicures is there any way to get naturally whiter nail tips?
Lack of calcium will dull the nails and make them brittle as well as giving you little white spots on the pink part of the nail. There are other vitamins/minerals that are healthy for them as well, so be sure to take a multi-supplement if your diet is not so well rounded.
As far as getting them white without polish ...soak them in lemon juice for a few minutes. That will help get some yellowing off if they are very dull looking and give them a shine. Also, there is a nail stick (looks like eyeliner but it's white) that you can use. Simply wet the tip of it a little and ';color'; the underside of your nail tip. No polish required!
You can then buff them to get a shine or use a clear coat polish to protect and strengthen while giving them shine.
Good luck!Other than painting them or having french manicures is there any way to get naturally whiter nail tips?
I would recommend buffing and polishing and then painting a clear nail varnish (like Avon strengthening varnish) over them - do this process every 4 days or so and they will get stronger and whiter. My nails were more see through and now I look like I have a french manicure without doing a thing. It is the best thing I can recommend and it shouldn't be too costly either. Hope this helps :-)
wash under your finger nails ALOT.
My nails are really pretty :)
Using a nail brush regularly will help.
You can swipe an orange stick with some cotton dipped in bit of hydrogen peroxide under your nails ever 4-5 days and rinse well. Follow up with nail oil.
Some people use those tooth whitening strips or soak their nails in a denture tablet bath.
Beauty supply stores carry specialized nail cleaners for soaking your tips and getting them whiter.
There are also white pencils designed for under the nails.
No, some peoples nails are different, there is nothing else we can do to permanently change them, it is just the way it is.
Steredent tables the ones that are used to clean dentures
put one in a bowl of water and dip hands in
you could try special nail whiting tablets but their just in effect denture cleaning tab's but cost twice as much
Cutex hand and nail cream is really good... you could also soak your nails in lemon juice as this makes them clean, shiny and strong.. in between visits to the nail salon i apply 2 layers of top coat which just gives my nails a lovely shine.... You can also buy nail tip whitener pencils (bit like eyeliner pencil) and these are very good!!!!
It's actually not lack of calcium that makes the white flecks on your nails but a lack of zinc. (Trinity). I got a really good clear nail varnish from Collection 2000 in Boots for Strength and Repair and it's really good if that's any help?
hiya, you can buy a little pencil that makes your nail tips whiter. they sell them in all sorts of places. and if you wear bright/dark nail varnish ever, make sure you put a base coat on or the varnish will dye your nails and they'll look all yellow.
